The tides in our Ocean’s demonstrate clearly how moon cycles are connected with water. Our soils, plants, and animals (including humans) all contain and are dependent upon water as well so it becomes apparent that moon cycles also impact all forms of life in the landscapes we care for.
Our experiences gained through practicing biodynamics since 2006 have involved using moon planting guides and then the biodynamic calendar to help us to choose the most appropriate time for carrying out activities in our garden and in the paddock.
This guide emerged from what began as a summary I put together researching how to align our activities to the biodynamic calendar to gain a better understanding. I started out initially using a simple guide to the four quarters of the moon, once I gained confidence with this I then felt ready to take a deeper dive into aligning to the more complex biodynamic calendar.
The guide is not a moon planting calendar and includes suggestions for sourcing calendars if you want to take it further. This guide is designed to assist you to understand moon planting calendars via two common methods: planting to the four quarters of the moon and the biodynamic planting calendar so you feel less overwhelmed when you start to work with a biodynamic calendar.
